Speedboat and RIB Insurance

REQUEST A QUOTE
We have a tailor-made speedboat and RIB insurance policy that offers quality cover at a competitive price. We insure speedboats, RIBs, fast fishers and sports cruisers.

All of our policies cover up to £5m Third Party Liability as standard. This is a requirement of all marinas and harbours prior to launching/berthing. We can also include various levels of liability for waterskiing and the towing of inflatable toys.

In addition, we cover your speedboats and RIBs whilst being towed by your vehicle anywhere in the UK (and Europe – subject to prior agreement). However, please note that the liabilities of towing will be the responsibility of your car insurance.

Security and mooring

We are able to cover your speedboat and RIB on a wide variety of locations for both the storage and the mooring of your boat. In terms of storage ashore, your vessel may be kept in either a locked building, your home driveway, or in a locked compound (subject to you meeting our storage conditions).

We can cover the boat if it is left afloat unattended, however this would be subject to our prior agreement of the mooring location.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose the sum insured?

Boat insurance is designed to protect you from financial loss through perils such as fire, theft, sinking, or accidental/malicious damage. It will also cover any third party costs that you are liable for. You’ll need proof of third-party cover at most marinas, and to obtain a boat licence for inland waterways. Full details of the cover provided is detailed in the policy wording, along with any exclusions that apply.

Are friends and family covered to use my boat?

Yes, assuming they have your permission and you’re confident they can handle the boat safely.

Will you need a survey to insure my boat?

We usually ask for a survey for boats over 25 feet in length and over 35 years old, but some boats will require a survey before this. Once a survey has been approved, you won’t need another for at least five years.

What is an excess?

The excess is the amount that you have to contribute towards each claim, shown in your policy schedule. A discount is usually available if you choose to accept a higher excess on your policy.
